S(p)eedkits

The S(p)eedkits project is a 4 year EU funded project with an international consortium of 15 parties, including professional actors in the relief/emergency sector, industrial partners, universities and research centres. This innovation project involves the development of novel solutions in the shelter, water, sanitation and energy sectors.

Goals

The aim of the S(p)eedkits project is to develop and/or improve hardware and software for the relief sector.

Activities

Practica is involved in the development of emergency hardware and software for the water and energy sectors. Our activities include the designing of  (semi) manual drilling kits, water bags and solar solutions targeting refugees/IDP’s and the development and testing of an emergency-specific decision-support tool. 

Budget

The total budget of the S(p)eedkits project is about 5 million euro of which about 500.000 euro is dedicated to the activities of Practica.

Results

  • professionalized rotary jetting kit specifically targeting the relief sector is developed and being tested in the field and can now be bought in the Oxfam Catalogue;
  • a Pico PV system is developed with the IFRC SRU and soon will be made ready for production in collaboration with an external partner, Flexiways;
  • a concept of semi-mechanized drilling is finalized, results can be found here
  • all information for the emergency decision-support tool has been finalized and is ready for future use
